is one of the strongest muscles
in our body?
According to an article found on the website of The Library of Congress, the ♥ Heart ♥ is the hardest working muscle. "It pumps out 2 ounces (71 grams) of blood at every heartbeat. Daily the heart pumps at least 2,500 gallons (9,450 liters) of blood. The heart has the ability to beat over 3 billion times in a person’s life."
Isn't it amazing?! How a small part of our body can be that strong and vital in our life. Our heart definitely deserves a salute!
That's why in one of my #SoleSearchingSoul trips in the Philippines I was inspired to practice yoga and thought about how powerful and strong our heart can be. After some time meditating and enjoying the serenity of the seaside, I somehow managed to be creative and came up with a very personal pose... a pose that is dedicated to the heart.
Try doing it too! Here's a simple guide on how you can practice my modified version of #Heart #Salute. You don't need a yoga mat for this and you don't even have to be a yoga expert to do this... Give it a try, okay?
Find a suitable and comfortable place for you to perform the exercise. Go to your own space.
I recommend you do the exercise early morning after you wake up or before you sleep at night.
1. Stand on your both feet. Bring your hand together at your heart.
Close your eyes.
Relax your mind.
Listen to your heart.
Breath in deeply and then out...
2. Extend your arms above your head with your hands in
prayer position. Stretch your hands and slowly form a small Heart shape♡.
Band slightly and look up at your hands. Breath in and then out...
As you focus on your breathing, consciously acknowledge that your heart is precious and strong...Your heart has its own eyes and ears to see & hear things that the mind cannot rationalize.
3. Once you feel relaxed, move onto the next step. Stretch your arms up and slowly bend it to form the big heart shape♡ above your head.
Breath in deeply and then out...
With every deep breath, feel your heart as it beats
not just for the people you love but also for others,
especially to those whom you find difficult to get along with...
While doing the modified HEART SALUTE, focus on deep breathing... Inhale. Exhale.
Let go of the pain.
Let go of all the bad feelings.
When you exhale, let hatred & apathy go away...
Let your heart relax.
Let it be at peace...
As you inhale, nourish your heart with compassion and affection.
Fill it with good feelings and pray for God
to make you an instrument of His Love...
Breath in deeply and then out...
And when you are ready, slowly raise your arms again
and bring your hands back to praying position
slowly then down to your chest to end. ♥
"Do not pray for an easy life.
Instead, pray to God to make you stronger
so that you can face anything with confidence and grace."
Try to do the Heart Salute and tell me how you feel after.
Who knows, you might also come up with your own personal yoga pose.
Let me know and share it with us too!
