From a far, it looks like a lighthouse in the middle of the open sea but once you get closer, you'll notice that it is something different... something far more intriguing and was even once controversial. This is by far the most sexy islet I've ever seen! Maybe even the smallest among the 7107 islands in the Philippines. Come a little bit close and you'll realize it is a PHALLIC ISLAND. Believe it or not, it's actually real and full of life! See the shrubs on top?! Locals call this "Boto ni Kurakog" and its existence comes with a very interesting story... an undying love of an immortal guy named "Kurakog" to a mortal lady of Bagamanoc named "Kalarab". Wondering how Kurakog's penis came to life? Know the full story and watch the video soon on Choose Philippine's YouTube channel. This was one of the major highlights of my trip in Catanduanes. Together with Choose Philippines team, we visited the coastal municipality of Bagamanoc which is approximately 2-3 hours away from the capital town of Virac. Onboard his personal speedboat, former Vice-Governor Vince Villaluna together with Armie, Glenda and Buboy, staff of Catanduanes Provincial Tourism Office, brought us to this famous landmark facing the vast Pacific Ocean and also a site of folk fertility rites for locals and even tourists. Sir Vince also shared that despite the numerous typhoon and strong waves, this five foot islet made of soil and loose rocks remains proud and strong. I guess despite the controversies surrounding its name, Boto ni Kurakog is here to stay. DO YOU ALSO WANT TO SEE THIS LANDMARK? VISIT CATANDUANES!
