Many great minds have said that the internet is a great equalizer and I believe in this statement. To some extent, #mylifestyle now is a proof how connectivity leveled the playing field especially for young professionals like me who chose to live in the province.
Using my Globe postpaid plan, I was able to discover the wonderful world of workcation. When I was the brand officer of a famous flipflops for South Luzon, I travelled to CALABARZON area for business development and events. I was able to work outside the office, access my email, send reports while I’m on the road and still manage our social media accounts from wherever I am --- all thanks to my reliable network.
Even when I traveled abroad, roaming service made it easier for me to stay connected and manage my life. I was able to communicate to my family and friends using their special roaming promos in partnership with foreign network providers.
My Globe postpaid perfectly suits #mylifestyle plan!
I have wonderful workcation moments with Globe.

My digital nomadic lifestyle makes it hard for my mother to explain what kind of work I do. One time I overheard her friend asking “Anong trabaho ni Apple?” maybe out of curiosity after seeing me at home during weekdays when I should be at the office by normal standard. Mama answered “Ah basta hawak nyan un cellphone nya at nakaharap sa laptop, yan trabaho nyan!” I can’t help but smile.
Mama used to tell her friends that my work is “Maglakwatsa!” Now, her description has evolved and all because I’m always at home. It was last year when I decided to take it slow and spend more time with my family after my mother was rushed to the emergency room several times in 2013. I realized that quality time with family was one thing I sacrificed for the past years that I’ve been busy with my professional and volunteer work. Taking it slowly means opting to stay at home as long as possible when I do not have a trip or a speaking engagement on my schedule instead of going out.
It was during this time that I got to spend quality time with mama and persuaded her to take dibs on my digital lifestyle. My sister and I have been encouraging her to use Facebook so that she can check what’s happening with the rest of us but she always say no and makes her eye problem or headache as an alibi. My relatives teased me that I’m teaching others how to become a netizen but my own mother is not even on Facebook. As it turns out, Mama only needs a one-on-one tutorial, you know, just like any late bloomer in technology. So one time I was home, I patiently taught her how to navigate her tablet, showed her what she can do with it, how Facebook and other apps can add new color to her lifestyle. | Today, I’m proud to share that Mama is now active online! There are even days she would flood my notification with likes and comments. All thanks to FREE Facebook by Globe, she got to practice her Facebook skills!!! :-)) Using Globe mobile data, she is also able to talk to my dad who’s working abroad through Viber. Aside from the usual call and text, their conversation is now filled with wonderful moments through Skype. My dad does not have to wait for his contract to end just to see his pet dogs and witness the adventures of the newest addition to our family, Rara and Pompei. Mama regularly updates him through Facebook by posting photos of the dogs at home and exchange comments with relatives. My mother’s daily life is now filled with digital wonder. She found a new way to create wonderful moments with us even when we are not at home, thanks to her Globe powered tablet. |
I love to capture wonderful moments and share stories even before I started blogging. Everywhere I go, I fill my world with wonder. Approach me and we can talk anything under the sun for hours. Look at my albums and you’ll see hundreds of videos and thousands of photos from my day to day life and trips. Using my iPhone 4s, I ventured into mobile videography to document my travel and share it to my family and friends once I’m home. Soon, I also found myself making teaser videos for my work as part of the content for our social media accounts.
