I grew up with the stigma that probinsyanos (promdi) are less capable. Bakya. Out-dated. As if we’re second class citizen just because we live in the rural areas with little knowledge of technology and what’s in so I vowed to break away from this stereotype while staying true to my origin. The misconceptions and low confidence in the capacity of what promdi can do and who they can be greatly changed because of mobile connectivity. With access to instant information and technology just like everybody else in big cities, promdi like me became more confident, capable, and competent in the fields we want to pursue. Many great minds have said that the internet is a great equalizer and I believe in this statement. To some extent, #mylifestyle now is a proof how connectivity leveled the playing field especially for young professionals like me who chose to live in the province. BECOMING A GLOBAL PROBINSYANA WITH GLOBE Using my Globe postpaid plan, I was able to discover the wonderful world of workcation. When I was the brand officer of a famous flipflops for South Luzon, I travelled to CALABARZON area for business development and events. I was able to work outside the office, access my email, send reports while I’m on the road and still manage our social media accounts from wherever I am --- all thanks to my reliable network. Even when I traveled abroad, roaming service made it easier for me to stay connected and manage my life. I was able to communicate to my family and friends using their special roaming promos in partnership with foreign network providers. Over the years, I became highly interested in Digital Marketing. I must admit that it was somehow supported by my postpaid plan in one way or another. When I renewed my Globe contract, I received the iPhone 4s which made it easier for me to study digital marketing even on my own while I am in Bicol. I downloaded e-books and watched podcasts on my iPhone. Lectures and tips from industry leaders were just a click away, all thanks to Globe’s unlisurf. Post by Apple Allison. It was in 2014 that I decided to formalize my training so I enrolled in the Digital Entrepreneurship Program of Ms.Janette Toral under Ateneo-Digital Filipino Partnership. I’m proud to share that I became a Certified Blog and Social Media Entrepreneur in August 2014 and Globe’s mobile data helped me finished the course. I can still remember preparing my blog posts and assignments while on the go, attending my online class right from our dining area or presenting project updates while I’m in the guest room of my friend in Daet and these moments were powered by Globe. Being in the know and getting certified is more achievable nowadays. Talking to my mentors from Metro Manila was way easier and accessible with unlimited call and text add it up with my dependable mobile internet. Post by Apple Allison. Post by Apple Allison. Who would have thought that my impulsive trip to the Globe center will put the globe in hand… that with some clicks, I’ve become a global probinsyana. My Globe postpaid perfectly suits #mylifestyle plan! MyLifestyle plan enables me to work. Anywhere. Anytime. I have wonderful workcation moments with Globe.
WONDERFUL MOMENT STARTS AT HOME My digital nomadic lifestyle makes it hard for my mother to explain what kind of work I do. One time I overheard her friend asking “Anong trabaho ni Apple?” maybe out of curiosity after seeing me at home during weekdays when I should be at the office by normal standard. Mama answered “Ah basta hawak nyan un cellphone nya at nakaharap sa laptop, yan trabaho nyan!” I can’t help but smile. Mama used to tell her friends that my work is “Maglakwatsa!” Now, her description has evolved and all because I’m always at home. It was last year when I decided to take it slow and spend more time with my family after my mother was rushed to the emergency room several times in 2013. I realized that quality time with family was one thing I sacrificed for the past years that I’ve been busy with my professional and volunteer work. Taking it slowly means opting to stay at home as long as possible when I do not have a trip or a speaking engagement on my schedule instead of going out.
CREATING AND SHARING WONDERFUL MOMENTS FOR OTHERS I love to capture wonderful moments and share stories even before I started blogging. Everywhere I go, I fill my world with wonder. Approach me and we can talk anything under the sun for hours. Look at my albums and you’ll see hundreds of videos and thousands of photos from my day to day life and trips. Using my iPhone 4s, I ventured into mobile videography to document my travel and share it to my family and friends once I’m home. Soon, I also found myself making teaser videos for my work as part of the content for our social media accounts. My iPhone from Globe helped me create wonderful moments which I was also able to share to others when I made several videos for our delegation when I was selected by the National Youth Commission to represent the Philippines in the Ship for South East Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP). Using only that smartphone and iMovie app on it, I was also able to make a short movie onboard the cruise ship entitled Love in Silence which won the People’s Choice for our SSEAYP Oscar Awards among other travelogues now uploaded on my YouTube. TAKE A GLIMPSE OF MY WONDERFUL MOMENTS What's your lifestyle? Realizing the uniqueness of every Filipino, Globe introduced its new myLifestyle Plan that’s made for the way we live now. You can select Lifestyle packs that suit you on top of the base plan with built-in call and text. This is #myLifestyleplan. Share yours. With Globe #myLifestyleplan, I can stay true to who I am and enjoy the different side of me all the time. I hope to continue creating wonderful moments with the new iPhone 6 from Globe.
