In commemoration of the 100th celebration of the Mother's Day, I created this gallery to give tribute to my mothers across the globe! Aside from my biological mother, I would also like to extend my warmest greetings to all the special ladies who treated me like their own daughter in one way or another. Thank you for your tender love and care.
TRIVIA: Mother's Day was first initiated by Anna Jarvis to honor her mother, Anna Jarvis who was a peace activist and creator of Mother’s Day Work Clubs which addressed public health issues during her time. A simple memorial was held in 1908 in West Virginia and the rest was history. With Anna Jarvis' efforts and campaign, in 1914, US President Woodrow Wilson signed the proclamation creating Mother’s Day, the second Sunday in May, as a national holiday to honor mothers.
Anna Jarvis trademarked the phrase Mother's Day and founded the Mother's Day International Association.
