As an ASEAN tourism advocate and Fun Ambassador, I'm very excited to attend the 3rd Philippine Tourism Forum because for the very first time, five secretaries of tourism will gather together to share their thoughts and insights on the state of the industry and what more should be done to grow the tourism business. DID YOU KNOW that The Department of Tourism reported that earnings generated from tourism activities in the first five months of 2015 grew 2.74%. For May alone, visitor receipts amounted to Php 16.77 billion which is 2.40% higher than the previous year’s earnings of Php 16.38 All five of the secretaries would account for more than two decades of combined experience and their wisdom culled from their experiences, past and present; their sharing will definitely be a great help for us to fully understand the journey of the tourism industry. The 3rd Philippine Tourism Forum, with the theme THE BUSINESS OF TOURISM: ASEAN AND BEYOND, will be held on on September 3, 2015 at the SMX Convention Center, MOA. This is organized by the Philippine Tour Operators’ Association (PHILTOA) as a pre-event learning activity to set the tone for its Philippine Travel Mart 2015, the biggest annual travel trade exhibition in the promotion and marketing of domestic and inbound tourism, happening on Sept. 4-6 also at SMX. "What greatness means to you?" That was a powerful question asked by LG Mobile Philippines to their followers and I accepted the challenge to answer this question through my instavideos. Let my video diary show you what is greatness to me. From people, places, celebrations and special moments, I celebrate a little bit of GREATNESS in everything that I do.
Exactly 40 days ago, I was browsing my Sole Searching Soul Facebook Page when I saw a sponsored post on my newsfeed so I checked what's the buzz on LG Philippines Instagram account.
DAY3: 3 Reasons Why the Instavid below is filled with #Greatness!
I was really amazed by the portrait artists in Tam-Awan Heritage Village like Ate Jen.
They give their best even though they only charge Php 200 for every session. For me their artwork is priceless especially if you have an acclaimed travel photographer/writer as your model!
DAY 11: THAT DAY WHEN I GOT STARSTRUCK WITH BUTANDING!
I fell in love with the whale shark the moment I saw it and it left me breathless after our first interaction in #Donsol! Swimming with the gentle giant is one of my great travel experiences so far! I highly recommend this activity when you are in Sorsogon.
DAY 18: TAKE THE PLUNGE AND ENJOY FALLING!
DAY 20: Reminiscing The Day I Fulfilled One of my Childhood Dreams!
DAY25: SUPPORTING FILIPINO ARTISTS AND TRADITIONAL CRAFTS
I'm also a crafter by heart because I love making handicrafts and expressing myself through arts so I visit Prism Gallery from time to time.
I first met Sir Badz Magsumbol two years ago in Bicol when he was introduced to me by Sir Pancho Piano who is one of the most famous Bicolano artists I know. These two master artists will surely make you proud as a Filipino because of their artworks and advocacy. They use art to make a difference and promote the best of Filipino culture and talent.
DAY33: BEING GREAT MEANS HAVING QUALITY TIME WITH FAMILY
My family is my source of greatness! That's why whenever possible, I go home to Bicol and play with my cute little cousin at the same time bond with the rest of my loved ones. Playtime is also my way of relaxing and sometimes source of unexpected inspiration!
DAY 38: FROM STRANGERS TO FRIENDS OVER A BOTTLE OF SOJU!
I am always thankful for the chance to make new friends especially when I'm on trips here and abroad. We were walking in a random street in DongdaemunMarket when I saw this food tent and asked my travel buddies for us to check it out. I only met Aiza and Justin in South Korea during my winter vacation and they became my friends after travelling together in Seoul.
DAY40: TRAVEL BUDDIES TO GREAT FRIENDS FOR KEEPS!
I am very happy to complete my#40DaysofGreatness Challenge with this instavid of my PAANOD SA LAYAK adventure with my SSEAYP family. They are the amazing people I met when I was selected by the National Youth Commission to be one of the Philippines Ambassador of Goodwill in 2012. Since then, our friendship grows stronger as we make great things happen in our respective fields and advocacies.
I hope I can win one of the LG G4 prizes so that I can take GREAT selfies just like this epic video by Alex which reminds me of my "Magic Palm Selfie" video shot in Baguio City. That's also about the same first time I personally saw greatness in the hand and eyes of Melo Villareal when he used his LGG4 to take travel photos during our After Summer Group Getaway in Azalea Baguio.
Just in case you're wondering "WHY I WANT TO WIN THIS CHALLENGE AND WHAT'S MY MOTIVATION FOR JOINING?" Aside from being a natural storyteller (talkative!) and being obsessed with documenting my trips on YouTube, I also think LGG4 will be a PERFECT BUDDY especially for people like me who is always on the go seeking for greatness!
I see great. I feel great.
Let me know what you think about my #40DaysofGreatness for @lgphilippines. NO MAN IS AN ISLAND that's why we have our group of friends. It's fun Friday so I thought it this post perfect to make your day a little lighter! Here's a funny video about the common problems we have experience in our Barkada... in one way or another, for sure you'll be able to relate to this video by Philippine's funny man on YouTube, Lloyd Cadena. SORRY NA, SELFIE MUNA!!! hahaha :-p Okay, eto na talaga! Let us know what you think about it and share what's your common Barkada Problem. Leave your comments below! If you love papercut as much as I do, then you shouldn't miss the newly opened CUT & PASTE: A Papercut Exhibition which will run until August 30, 2015 at Prism Gallery in Makati City featuring 6 of the best Filipino papercut artists. From traditional pastillas pabalat to contemporary expressions, featured artists showcases their talent and skill in manipulating the very challenging medium of paper.
TRIVIA: My fascination with papercut art started when I chanced upon an old Chinese lady in Beijing who did my papercut portrait during my visit in 798 Art District.
CUT & PASTE presents the best of papercut art by fusing traditional pabalat with contemporary works. You can see this in various artworks on display. Here are some snaps I took during the opening.
It's also nice to see some of the featured artists
doing their demonstrations which really captured the interest of the guests!
My interest in papercut reunites me with two of the Filipino master artists!

Reunited with good friends!
As one of the featured artists, I asked Sir Badz about his inspiration for his artworks. He shared that he aims to continue this kind of art form alive and vibrant. "I don't believe that Papercut is a dying artform." he reiterated. He said that there are many practitioners out there who just needs proper venue to showcase their work in order to be discovered. Part of his advocacy is conducting demonstrations and workshops in different parts of the Philippines to promote this Filipino culture and tradition.
Congratulations Prism Gallery and to all the featured Filipino papercut artists for the successful opening of CUT & PASTE Exhibition! It was well attended by different people from all walks of life and ages.
Show your support to our Filipino papercut artists!
Please SHARE this post to your family and friends. Maraming Salamat!
If you want to get your degree on fear management, I highly suggest you visit the Danao Eco Adventure Park in Bohol. It's approximately 2 hours away from Tagbilaran but the trip is worth it especially if you can dare yourself to take their very famous "Plunge"! Watch this instavid to get an idea what is it all about. :-)
