SPOTTED DURING THE PREVIEW AT MANILA PENINSULA
A month ago, the Singapore Tourism Board hosted the "You're Best Weekend Ever" party at the posh bar 71 Gramercy. The night was filled with high profile guests from Singapore and some of the celebrities in the Philippines also came to party.
Here's a short video blog showing what happened during that night.
I'm not from Metro Manila so when I was invited to party in Makati City, I didn't have any idea where to go after and I didn't want that to happen again so as early as now, I am trying to plan my activities and that includes researching about the party venues and nearby establishments where I can stay without breaking my budget.
Good thing a Facebook acquaintance informed me about this BarkadaTreat of Jupiter Suites, one of the affordable hotels in Bel-Air Village Makati City, where my friends and I can avail a special group rate should we decide to have a sleepover after the party this holiday season just like what we always do when we're in the province.
Actually now, as I write this post and saw the photos of the hotel rooms, I think this place is good enough to become a venue for a party in itself, not just for an after party!
How about a Pajama Party with your high school and/or college best friends after their work on weekend?
Instead of paying full rate, I suggest you avail this Barkada Treat! Check-in time is 10 pm and check-out is on the following day at 10 am. Given this time, I guess you do not have to go "over the bakod" because you went home late after a party and your landlord locked your gate. I experienced it before and mosquitoes had an after party with me while I patiently wait for my relatives to open the gate. I don't want that to happen again so I might as well just encourage my friends to take this special group rate in case we have our reunion in the big city. Now I have an idea where to stay when I'm in Makati City without breaking my wallet! It's the season to be jolly la la la la...
Ohh by the way, I saw this contest when I visited their FB page. You might want to join!

Last year, the Philippines faced one of the worst disasters in our history when super typhoon Yolanda hit the Visayas area which left key places like a total wasteland and millions of our fellow Filipinos in grief, not just for losing their homes but for the loss of families and friends.
Ebouy, as I fondly call my younger sister, may look like an easy-go-lucky lady and a tough bully sometimes but deep inside her is a compassionate heart. This became very evident when she volunteered to help right after super typhoon Yolanda hit Visayas. She could have opted to stay at home or help in other means but she went there, not only once but at least 3 times and visited Cebu, Samar and Leyte provinces!
It all started through a post on Facebook she read and some messages from her friends. The next thing I knew was she's packing her backpack for Manila to pack relief goods and get ready for deployment in Visayas despite my mother's hesitation. Don't get me wrong but Mama has always been supportive of our various activities and volunteer work but that time, I understand her hesitations. As we watched the news on national tv, everything was in chaos and health issues were also a big concern. Being hardheaded, as we have always been, my sister accepted the call for volunteers and was deployed as part of the #Akbayanihan Relief Drive.
My sister is a frequent flyer but I guess this is one of the airplane ride she'll never forget! She flew to Tacloban onboard the army's C130 plane with other volunteers and together with the relief goods. She also experienced sleeping in the street near Tacloban airport because that's the only safe place for them. We never really discussed what happened during her volunteer experience but just looking at her photos, I know it took a lot of emotional and physical strength to do what she has done. I've done a couple of post disaster volunteer work too but I must admit that it's not as heavy as what my sister experienced and did for the survivors of super typhoon Haiyan, locally named Yolanda.
She also showed that you do not have to be a nurse or someone with a background in medicine in order to help in a medical mission. Under the supervision of the Philippine Medical Association officers and volunteers, Ebouy also learned how to read the doctors' handwriting in order to give the right medicine to the survivors. She said the PMA doctors were very helpful that's why she was able to fulfil her duties. Their group also went to far flung areas and conducted different activities especially for the children who were suffering from post-disaster trauma.
Tomorrow is the anniversary of Yolanda and earlier this week, Akbayanihan volunteers once again come together to bring hope to the survivors. Last November 4, 2014, my sister reunited with her fellow volunteers and travelled back to Visayas via land trip and roro.
REBUILDING HOPE TOGETHER. Based on my sister's Facebook update, the caravan safely made it to their destination. For the past days, they were able to conduct the Turn-over and awarding of Day Care Center in Dulag,Leyte as well as conduct the organic farming demonstration and awarding of inputs for the San Jose United Farmers Association among others.
We do not have to wait for another calamity to help, look around your own community and maybe you too can do something for those around you.
This is not the first time I've seen her help someone. Even on ordinary day, she never hesitates to lend a hand and make someone's day a little better. I hope my sister's journey will inspire you to make someone's life a little better than yesterday. Make someone smile. Lend a hand. Act now. Be kind. You'll never know how it can affect someone's life.
In her on ways, she's making a difference one trip at a time too. And I'm blessed to have a sister like Ebouy. She simply knows how to #migmyday! I hope this post made your day too!
Maraming Salamat. Thank you to all the people who helped the Philippines rebuild our nation after the disaster. Here's a short video prepared by Department of Tourism to extend our warmest thank you.

Are you a business owner wondering how to increase yield? A budding marketing professional curious about how you can engage your target market? Brand manager looking for ways to win the heart of your customers or just someone with loyalty issues?
I hope this blog post can help you.
Aside from being a blogger, I'm also a marketer by profession and just like any marketing professionals, I am really curious about how we can turn customers to brand ambassadors and evangelists. As a blogger, I also realized that the lesson about customer loyalty is not just applicable to businesses but also to blogs and online community. I hope by sharing what I learned you can also get valuable inputs on how you can attract, engage and keep customers for your businesses and in someways for your blog too.
I summarized the key points shared by the speakers using the building blocks above for easy reference and discuss each block below.
Customer journey is very important and it is not the task of one man in the company to be able to identify the stages and map it out. By carefully looking at your customer journey, you are able to look at each touchpoint that affects the way you deal with your target. You are also able to identify what are the possible hindrances, address the challenges and come up with a solution proactively and not just on a reactive mode. Customers always want a great service so make sure that when you map out your journey with your brand, you are able to put systems in place and have customer recovery in place at every touchpoints especially after sales which is commonly forgotten or disregarded by others. Remember, you want to gain the loyalty of your customer and you can only do that through repeat interactions and continued engagement it is only imperative that you know what your customers go through when they make business with you. Think about their moment of truths, pre and post transactions and not just during the actual sale.
Unique Buying Situation dictates brand choice. To be honest, it was my first time to hear about this concept and I'm happy that Jojo Ajero explained what it is all about. He shared that UBS affects loyalty. For example, you are an avid Max's customer but near your office, you only have Jollibee and with only 1 hour lunch break, you might as well choose Jolibee where you can have your order in a few minutes over Max's where you might wait for a while until you have your table. Because of the customers' unique buying situation, brand choice is affected. More than the branding and marketing communications, one must also consider the operations in order to understand the customer's UBS and come up with an appropriate resolution.
Surprise your customers from time to time, you'll never know how it can positively affect their lives and their love for your brand as well. Sometimes we tend to be more comfortable with people around us that we forgot to give them something or do something fun for them. More than the monetary value, it is really the thought that counts. I remember at Avenue Plaza Hotel, a simple gesture like greeting the guests on their special days made them feel special. Leon Legothesis, one of the global adventurer/author/TV host I follow surprised me last year when he sent me a copy of his book with dedication. Simple things and surprises can make costumers feel closer to your brand and somehow it can also make them share the good things about you to their family, friends and networks. I really like this Christmas surprise and who knows, our local airlines can do something like this too. If you haven't seen this video last year, you can watch it now. :-)
I've been to Singapore a few times already but I've never experienced their nightlife in full. Ohh well, maybe I'm not the typical party goer that's why I know little about it. With my previous visits in this first world country, my activities revolved around eating, shopping, hiking and sightseeing. So I was very fortunate that I got invited to experience a taste of the full spectrum of nightlife and entertainment that Singapore has to offer to tourists.
More than just a PR event, #YourBestWeekendEver is a promise fulfilled especially for me! With a world class city like #Singapore, you can expect nothing but the best. Showcasing what it feels like to party when in #SG, a #promdi like me was invited by Singapore Tourism Board (STB) last October 16, 2014 to an exclusive VIP party at the posh and club of the stars, #71Gramercy.
The STB flew in some of the biggest names in their entertainment industry and I was privileged to be able to party with them and talk about many interesting things which I can also include in my upcoming blog, ASEAN Tourism Guide.

Conducting seminars and workshops especially for students is one of the things I really love to do. Education, both formal and nonformal is one of the areas I also advocate that is why even during my high school and college years, I was very active in various outreach and related activities. By sharing my knowledge, experience and stories, I hope others will be inspired and motivated to excel in their chosen path.
I was once a student and it always excite me whenever a practitioner will be invited to our school to talk about what's happening in the professional world. I hope the students of Mariners' Polytechnic Colleges in Naga City were delighted to have me as their resource speaker during their seminar last October.
I was invited to talk about blogging and overall digital marketing in promoting the best of Bicol. Hopefully, through my sharing, the HM, HRM and Tourism students will be able to link Bicol to the globe too. Even though I didn't dwell on the technical side of blogging, I'm really happy to see them listening and absorbing the practical tips I gave as I speak and go through my slides.
This November, there are two important educational events in my calendar too. First, I feel honored to be part of the The Dream Expo Bicol where I will be one of the regional FYIs together with other dream makers and doers in the Philippines. I will also travel to Ozamis City for to give a Keynote Speech and conduct workshop in one of the universities there. I'm really thankful that because of this blog, more people get to know about my advocacies and invite me in their place to share my Sole Searching Soul journey and in a way fulfill this blog's mission of making a difference. This is also my second time to travel to Mindanao for a voluntourism activity.
Thinking about organizing a seminar, workshop or conference? Do you need a resource speaker for Digital Marketing, Tourism Promotions, Blogging, Marketing Communications, Special Events and other related topics? Are you interested to hear my story as a PROMDI (From the Province / Probinsyana) and how I am making a difference? I can also give motivational/inspirational talks especially to high school and college students as well as conduct team building or group guidance activities for young professionals. Feel free to contact me and I'll be delighted to hear from you. :-)
Looking back, I also miss the time I was in the academe. I used to be a college part-time teacher and instead of having my lunchtime or attending weekend parties, I am usually in the campus with my students. I must admit that I was not the perfect and ideal teacher but I do hope my students also learn practical life lessons from my class too and not just the theories.
Today, my classroom is bigger and boundless and my students come from all walks of life. I am not only the teacher but also a student of life.
