For the first time in my adult life, I was able to experience Visita Iglesia, the catholic tradition of visiting 7 churches during Holy Week. I persuaded my Filipino-Chinese friend and travel buddy Doreen of GETS Travel to join me in this soul searching journey while I'm in Naga City,Bicol.
Our first stop was Carmelite Monastery which was in the outskirt of city center. This place is also very meaningful to me because of a little miracle that happened last January 2016 which led to a series of events in my life.
I introduced Doreen to Ate Lydia, the caretaker whom I met during my first visit in the Carmelite Monastery. She's the one who explained to me the significance of the devotion to the Scapular and how it is related to safety and protection. Since then, whenever I meet a Catholic when I'm travelling, I give them my spare scapular.
I'm not an expert on love and relationship but this post is somehow inspired by the lessons I learned based on what my parents went through (and going through)...
My family is not perfect. We had so many ups and downs; to some extent I grew up thinking that having parents fighting each other is normal. Well, I think that's one of the reason why guidance office became my second home because of all the emotions and issues I had to face on my own, far from them. Don't get me wrong, I'm in good terms with my parents; they're cool but somehow complicated too!
If there's one major love lesson I learned from them, that is loving someone is a decision, not just a fleeting emotion...
Yes, it's for real! I'm happy to share that there will be another season ofHow Do I Look Asia and they are now having a casting call! I highly recommend this to all ladies struggling with their fashion sense.
HOW DO I LOOK ASIA - Casting Call
I'm very excited to share to you what happened during my recent journey around ASEAN and I think it would only be appropriate to start with my Singapore adventures because this place is solo traveller friendly!
FAST FORWARD TO 2016: I have very good memories with this tour service that's why when I returned last February with my sister, who was visiting SG for the first time, I thought it would be great to avail the DUCK & HIPPO TOUR again so that somehow she can also experience the delight and excitement I had in the past!
Please note that there are many tour packages available. Depending on your needs, interests and timeframe, you just have to pick what suits you best. For this trip, my sister and I opted to availed the DUCK WITH SINGAPORE 7.
For this specific blog post, I'll highlight first our DUCK TOUR experience because I think it's a MUST for every first time visitors in Singapore. It will definitely give you different perspective of the Lion City!
For history buff like me, you’ll treasure the experience knowing that you got to ride in an actual war craft. Yes, the “Duck” is actually a remodelled Vietnamese amphibious vehicle which was used in World War 2.
The tour guide knows how to inject humour in his commentary which makes the tour more fun and lively. It’s mainly delivered in English but they also provide audio guides in different languages such as Japanese, Chinese, Koreans to make it easier for others to get the essential info and trivia too.
For this particular tour, I noticed that the Duck tour guide tried his best to speak other languages too which pleases the non-English speaking guests. :-)
If you’re not into selfie, do not worry. The Duck tour staff are very helpful in taking photos with the best view!
Overall, we get the BEST of both world when we availed the Duck Tour during our recent vacation in Singapore. For sure you’ll enjoy it too as much as we did. This amphibious thrill ride is definitely a MUST DO in Singapore especially if you are a first time visitor just like my sister who gave them a THUMBS UP!!!
I'm really delighted that I availed the DUCK & HIPPO TOUR services again and just like before, I had a pleasant experience. I’m very happy that my sister loved it too!
Just in case you noticed, I didn't really dwell on what you'll see when you take this tour because it's better for you to actually experience and see it for yourself! Besides, Singapore is rapidly changing and based from my experience, from 2010 to present, even the Duck Tour itinerary changed for the better! So yeah, Go! Try it and don't hesitate to try it all over again!
For a quick overview of where you'll go and what you'll see, this map will be useful to you. I got it from https://www.ducktours.com.sg/duck.php where you can also check the latest updates about this tour service.
When I was checking for the updated tour details, I find their website very helpful especially with their FAQs and online booking with Paypal payment options. I highly recommend you check their Facebook Page DUCK & HIPPO for their special promos.

Travelling and Blogging are two things that I really love to do but sometimes I find myself lost in the "present" moment while travelling because I'm already worried that I'm not updating this blog regularly...
So for the past 27 days that I'm out of the country, I was not able to post any update on this site though I still managed to update my INSTAGRAM (www.instagram.com/msappleallison) and FACEBOOK PAGE (www.fb.com/solesearchingsoul) so for now, here's a quick glimpse of what kept me from pre-occupied:
MEET-UP with friends and SSEAYP batchmates
CELEBRATING LOVE & LIFE in Myanmar (Alone but not lonely on Valentines!)
INTERACTIONS WITH LOCALS & BEFRIENDING STRANGERS AND FELLOW TRAVELLERS
I really love the #ZALIA graphic leaf dress I wore in the photo above. It's sold by ZALORA. It can be very conservative yet trendy and when you put a little twist on how you wear it, this #muslimah dress is perfect #OOTD and #OOTN too!
You can order the dresses on ZALORA MALAYSIA website.
Overall, I think disconnecting (or atleast minimizing my time online and not worrying about my blog!) is a good decision. I was able to LIVE THE LIFE and reconnect with myself, my friends and with my God.
Stay tune for meaningful #SSStory from my recent Sole Searching Soul journey. I met different people with stories that will surely warm your heart and inspire you in one way or another. Thank you for staying connected! <3 <3 <3
